We celebrated Martin Luther King Day on Monday. I fear for too many it was just a day off work. I think we celebrated in a way that Honored Dr. King. We started the day after breakfast with our friend Tomica, a 19 year old soldier in the Army, giving us a prepared speech on Dr. King.
Above Debbie & Tomica.
We then listened to his 1963 'I Have a Dream Speech'.
After we prayed together we played! I think our play would have honored Dr. King because of the diversity of our group. We were Jewish, Catholic, Protestant, African American and white.
I wish we had more people of color involved in what we do. We are still way to white. But we have come a long way since 1963.
It was a good weekend. On Sunday I was given the opportunity to preach in chapel and that is always fun for me. There were a lot of good conversations and laughs. The Festaburg is the best on long weekends!
