After serving in the U.S. Navy and graduating from Multnomah Bible College, Brad Ellgen joined Cadence International, a mission dedicated to reaching military personnel and their families. As a result, the Ellgens were on the mission field for 17 years. Brad and Debbie and their children spent 10 years in Germany, which included directing Hospitality Houses in Schweinfurt and Mannheim.
In 1993, the Ellgens moved to Denver, Colorado where Brad served as director of personnel for Cadence. During those same years, Brad and Debbie also worked with a GenX congregation in Littleton. While in Denver, Brad received a Masters Degree in Biblical Counseling from Colorado Christian College.
After Denver, the Ellgens went to Phoenix, Arizona, where Brad was a pastor at a Bible church. Brad and Debbie worked primarily with college students. They also began an outreach by moving into a large apartment complex and ministering to the residents living there.
Brad and Debbie have been married for 28 years and they have two grown sons.
When Brad and Debbie return to Germany, their Hospitality House ministry in Baumholder will reach out to troops with a warm family environment. As House Directors, the Ellgens will offer Bible study groups for couples and singles, one-on-one mentoring, and discipleship. Home-cooked meals and parties for the servicemen and women will be planned. Off-duty activities such as sports, trips to local places of interest, and retreats, provide great opportunities for fellowship and relationship building. Depending on the needs in Baumholder, ministries may include both family and singles activities.
