Home
Feb 23, 2008
We have just returned from a trip to the states. It was wonderful . It was missions conference time at Foothills Bible Church and the theme was coming home. It caused me to think about what and where is home.
As we left Denver on Monday afternoon I shed a few tears to be leaving – it was so wonderful to spend time with David, Richard, Pamela, Brad Soren and many friends who loved us so well. They hold my heart in ways that being with them is being home. Yet, I currently have no address in the United States.
My address is in Germany, yet, Germany in many ways is never “home”. Yet, it is. As we left we said “we are ready to go home”. In that context, home is where our “stuff”- including our own bed , is; but more than that, it is our routine – life if you will, and the people with whom we have current relationships.
The group who gathered here on Wednesday night also loved us well. They missed us, as we also missed them. So we are Home!
Home – it is often not so easy to define. I, who love concrete, am comfortable today with this mystery.
