Fridday Night study
Jul 19, 2008
Friday night I began a teaching series though the book on Daniel. I want to talk about what it means to be a courageous Christian. Because we have a handful of kids that are part of our Bible Study I am trying to write skits so the Bible Story can be acted out. I started doing this a number of years ago at family camp and it seems to keep the kids involved in what we are doing. I am really hoping to teach the kids as well as the adults. It is so hard for me to imagine what is required of the kids when their dad is down range for over a year. Some of the kids are approaching the teen years and I am really hoping that I can help them understand how much their mother needs their help with there dad gone. On Friday we talked about Daniel 1 and talked mostly how it reads that “Daniel was resolved on to defile himself” and I asked what would it look like if we were resolved. We shared about times when we were resolved and it really helped us. We also reflected on times when we were not resolved and it really hurt us. After the meeting I had a talk with an 11 year old girl who I know wants to serve the Lord but is finding it hard to get along with her mom. I don’t know if I was helpful or not, but it feels like I was moving in the right direction given the community we are currently serving in.

Way to go! by Pamela Ellgen Jul 20, 2008
Brad, It's so cool to hear about how you're incorporating the kids into your studies. Being the hip 20-something person I think myself to be, I've kinda discounted kids; they're annoying, especially when they're someone else's. Then I had one. Now I have more compassion for other people's kids and their haggard parents.
